Marnie Goodfriend is a freelance photographer, mixed media artist and writer working in New York and Los Angeles. She graduated in 1996 from New York University's Tisch School for the Arts with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Photography. She received the prestigious Seth Tobias Award for her mixed media installation "What's At The End" shown at the Gulf and Western Gallery in New York City. This September, her work will be featured in the upcoming Photo Pin-Up show at the 8th Floor Gallery. Marnie worked in publicity and marketing for Island Records and Sony Music where she photographed several artists such as Duran Duran, Moby and Train. She also photographed artists for Hollywood Records, Elecktra, several indie labels as well as some unsigned artists. She also managed Very Good Records, co-owned by renowned artist Julian Schnabel and musician Brian Kelly. Mr. Schnabel personally selected one of Marnie's photographs for the cover of Brian Kelly's 2004 album, Receding Choir. Besides her photography, Marnie spends a great deal of time donating artwork, writing and public speaking for several women's organizations, which address sexual assault and violence prevention such as RAINN and SAVI. Her work has also been included in silent auctions attended by United States Congressmen and Congresswomen. She received two grants from Agfa Paper and Tisch School of the Arts for her mixed media installation "Sheila's Photographs". In addition, Marnie has taught photography to adolescents in New York City after school programs and at fine and performing arts camp, Buck's Rock in New Milford, CT. Marnie prides herself on "striving to portray private moments in a way that everyone can relate to". She applies this concept to all of her artwork as it continues to evolve through her endeavors in both fine and performing art.
